Un ricordo di Pier Giacomo Castiglioni

Circa 60 anni fa frequentavo lo studio di P.G. Castiglioni per prepararmi agli esami di abilitazione all’insegnamento di attività artistiche, esami fatti e superati anche con l’aiuto di Bruno Zevi, marito di mia cugina Tullia.

Nello studio dei Castiglioni, 3 architetti + il padre scultore, c’era sempre un’atmosfera vivace; Pier Giacomo fece pure finta che io avessi collaborato al restauro da lui realizzato di una cappella a Corbetta!

Erano tutti di una gentilezza e cordialità squisita, però non ricordo quali fossero i temi di questi incontri.

Ogni tanto arrivava Max Huber su una piccola motocicletta smontabile e fornito di bottiglia di whiskey che offriva a tutti.

Gli esami andarono bene ma poi decisi di non insegnare e andai a Londra a studiare grafica e pittura.

About 60 years ago, I was attending the studio of P.G. Castiglioni to prepare for the professional exams to become an art teacher, which I also passed with the help of Bruno Zevi, my cousin Tullia’s husband.

In the Castiglioni studio, three architects and their sculptor father, there was always a lively atmosphere; Pier Giacomo even pretended that I had collaborated in his restoration of a chapel in Corbetta!

They were all wonderfully kind and friendly, but I can’t remember what the themes of these meetings were.

Sometimes Max Huber would arrive on a small motorcycle that could be dismantled, with a bottle of whiskey that he would share with everyone.

The exams went well, but then I decided not to teach, and I went to London to study graphic design and painting.
